Drift Off is the new album from 4DHB. Fourteen tracks, fifty-four minutes, meant to be played straight through. It was culled from years of recordings and arranged as a single piece: grooves, drones, tension and release, with two short transports between sections. It’s accessible and strange, and it doesn’t let the listener wander far. Headphones help.
A spectrum analyzer on a CRT, with a camcorder pointed back at the screen. Press play, then zoom the camera in and the analyzer falls into itself — an endless tunnel of screens inside screens. Drag to aim the camera. Switch to your mic to feed it anything.
